Psychological services have been included at Chittagong University Medical Center as a separate unite recently. Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated Counseling Unit on November 2018.
It is worth mentioning that, Psychology Department reach this stage with lots of background work. The Department has taken some initiatives to serve psychological service to it’s community as the part of it’s mission and vision since 2017. From then Department started psychological counseling service to the University students in a limited way in the department premises . Beside this service, Department trained it’s resources such as teachers, masters student from local and foreign expert with the co-operation with Clinical Psychology Department of Dhaka University.
Recently, University with the headship of Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury extended psychological counseling service in broad way and established a separate counseling unit in it’s Medical Center. This initiative open a greater platform for the Chittagong University students to care about their mental health. At same time, mental health get a great concern along with physical health in Chittagong University.
The counseling unit will work with the collaboration of Psychology Department and Medical Center of CU where well trained masters students and teachers of Psychology Department will provide services. This Unit not only provide counseling service but also arrange several workshop, training such as anger managment, social skills, anxiety managment etc. for the students.
It is a great achievement of the Psychology Department with a great initiative of it’s Chairman Lailun Nahar and all the teachers.
